One Week Spanish Study Tour
If you know some of the basics of Spanish, but are not fluent, we'll help you form some simple sentences and practice conversational Spanish and learn new vocabulary in short one hour classes. Then the best place to practice Spanish is outside the classroom around the Lake Atitlan area as well as visits to other highlights in the region. We'll apply the short cuts we know to get you speaking and help you to apply your skills in real life activities.
This tour includes, but is not limited to:
Lake Atitlan: Each morning after breakfast we'll focus on 2 hours of Spanish with useful phrases, vocabulary and structure. Then we'll set out to tour our variety of destinations: A. Santiago Atitlan is one of the most artistic and rich villages on Lake Atitlan. It is placed on the slopes of two immense dormant volcanoes, Toliman,and Atitlan. To the West is volcano San Pedro which looms to the West. Santiago Atitlan was the main capital of the Mayan Tzutujil and is rich with history. B. San Juan la Laguna. In San Juan you will have the chance to share a few moments with the women’s weaving cooperative utilizing the traditional methods of dying thread with native plants. Also experienced will be Medicinal plant nurseries, a museum, and a brief course in traditional fishing methods. C. Santa Cruz to Tzununá. We will walk the ancient Mayan trail with spectacular lake views. The paths run through the Mayan villages starting from Tzununá going through Jaibalito and ending inSanta Cruz la Laguna. D. Chichicastenango Market. , Chichicastenango is a town with an incredible collection of Mayan artefacts and is known as the premier market place in all of Guatemala. Surrounded by high mountains the village is a showcase for authentic adobe houses. All locals adhere to the ways of traditional weavings and the women wear superb huipiles with radiant flowers motifs. Many great souvenirs can be found here — from colorful Mayan fabrics and ceremonial masks to genuine leather goods, jewelry, etc. Chichicastenango is to be experienced. E. San Antonio and Santa Catarina villages. These two villages are very important in the Textile industry of Lake Atitlan. These villages offer great souvenirs and are full of history and culture. Great places to further utilize your improving Spanish.
OFFERINGS & REQUIREMENTS:
1. Recommended Level 2 Students and higher (recent study of basic verb conjugations, Ser and Estar); Limited to 4 per group, Minimum 2. Inquire re: Level 1 studies in Santa Cruz Spanish School before the trip.
2. Prices include: Transportation, Accommodation, Spanish study plus conversational support and daily tours with teacher.
3. If you'd like to form your own group, have a specific date in mind, or want to go for less than a week, please inquire. We may be able to accommodate your request. If you have a group of all Beginners, we'll also accommodate you.

Weekend Spanish Study (Hike)
This option lets you use and practice your Spanish while climbing El Hike el Pico de Cielo at and altitud of 2500 mts. by the sea level.
Maria Linda or Laguna Seca is the name of the kaqchikel village where El Pico de Cielo is located. Maria Linda is an authentic small and poor village, isolated at the top of a mountain. It is nestled between Milpa-clad fields and the majestic mountain sides of Lake Atitlan.
